The ISEEIT Stand project started with a collaboration between Goodwill of the Finger Lakes manufacturing, business development and several employees from throughout the agency who are visually impaired. The goal was to create a portable product that could encourage independence for people who are visually impaired.
Five years and several ISEEIT versions later the result is a portable, affordable mobile device stand that enables hands-free use of your cell phone or tablet, allowing you to utilize the technology you have in your pocket to magnify documents or objects while at work, school, at home or on the go.
Now that all of the hard work was complete and our team had a final product that we felt was the portable assistive technology that would encourage people’s independence our next step was to inform the world.
We’ve all seen the commercials where regular people used their cell phones to shoot a video fit for an IMAX screen. So, obviously we would be able to write a script, grab some of our co-workers walking through the hallway, take out our cell phones and shoot an amazing commercial highlighting the ISEEIT Stand’s capabilities. A couple of hours later we would post the homemade video to our website and all of our social media channels and, Viola! We’re shipping out ISEEIT Stands all over the country.
Unfortunately, we found out quickly that nobody on our team was going to be the next Steven Spielberg and the hard work was definitely not over. So we decided to turn to the professionals and last week we started filming with Caleb Parker Cinema www.calebparkercinema.com . We had a great time during the shoot! Caleb and Kendrick were detailed and professional but knew when to lighten things up. We had a lot of laughs and best of all we have some great video of the ISEEIT Stand. So, be on the lookout for the video and check out www.gflsolutions.org if you’re interested in learning more about how the ISEEIT Stand can enable independence for people who are visually impaired.
